Mark Levy
has been practicing in the area of multifamily housing and
health care projects for 24 years. Mark specializes in
representing lenders and owners in the financing, construction,
acquisition, refinancing and transfer of multifamily housing
projects utilizing HUD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, CalHFA,
Conventional Financing and Conduit loan programs (including tax
credit enhancements and bond financing by local housing
authorities, cities, counties and state agencies), as well as
representing owners in disputes with HUD. Mark has handled
financing transactions in most segments of the real estate
industry, including single-family developments, raw land,
industrial sites, residential condominiums and office buildings. |
Mark has been a featured speaker on housing issues at ABA
Conferences and at the Western HUD Lenders Conferences. Mark
received his B.S. in Business from the University of California
at Berkeley (1977), and his J.D. from the University of California,
Hastings College of the Law (1980). Mark is admitted to practice
in all California state courts, the U.S. District Court -
Northern District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals -
Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of
Hawaii, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims

Larry
Levy received his B.A. in Political Science at the
University of California in Davis(1978) and graduated Whittier
Law School with a JD/MBA in 1984. From 1979-1983, Larry worked
at Citicorp and ARCS as a mortgage banker. Larry holds a Real
Estate License, which he still maintains. Larry is admitted to
practice in all California state courts, the U.S. District Court
- Northern District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals -
Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of
Hawaii. Larry is a member of the American Bar Association
(Affordable Housing Section) and has been a featured speaker on
housing issues at ABA Affordable Housing Conferences and at
NAHMA Conferences. In 1989 Larry was successful in negotiating
one of the first plans of action in the country to be approved
by HUD under the Emergency Low Income Housing Preservation Act
of 1987 (ELIHPA). to preserve
the units as affordable under ELIHPA. |

Larry’s
practice focuses on representing project owners and lenders in
the nationwide financing of the construction, acquisition and
rehabilitation of multifamily housing and health care projects
utilizing conventional financing, HUD, HOME, MHP, CDBG, Fannie
Mae, Freddie Mac, CalHFA, tax credit enhancements and bond
financing by local housing authorities, cities, counties and
state agencies. Larry also has substantial experience working on
troubled projects and loan workout issues. In 1997 Larry closed
many transactions in the HUD demonstration mortgage
restructuring program which preceded the permanent mortgage
restructuring program (MAHRA) which now is governed by the
Office of Affordable Housing Preservation (OAHP, formerly OMHAR),
as well as representing project owners with Section 8 project
based housing renewals and opt out options. Larry has assisted
State and local agencies in various aspects of the HUD programs
and is an expert on the application of the California prepayment
law.

Paul A.
Renno has been practicing in the development and financing of
affordable housing and health care projects for over 27 years.
Most recently, Paul served as the Chief Operating Officer and
Senior Counsel for PNC MultiFamily Finance, Inc. (“PNC”). Prior
to PNC’s acquisition of TRI Capital Corporation (“TRI”), Paul
served as TRI’s General Counsel for over 12-years in charge of
all Federal and Agency financings including HUD, Fannie Mae,
Freddie Mac and private conduit lenders as well as advising on
general corporate matters. Prior to PNC/TRI Paul spent over
eight years as staff counsel with the Department of Housing and
Urban Development in San Francisco where he specialized as an
“FHA closing attorney.” As the Department’s needs changed, in
the mid-80s, Paul became heavily involved as counsel for
work-outs and asset sales. In short, Paul’s experience in both
the public and private |

sectors and
his successful representation of real estate and banking clients in
complex multi-layered financing and workouts during both the
best and worst of times is broad and extensive.
Paul is a member of the California Bar, the District of Columbia
Bar (inactive) and the American Bar Association and is admitted
to the U.S. Ninth District Court. Paul is graduate of George
Washington University’s The National Law Center in Washington,
D.C., receiving his J.D. in 1976 and the University of Redland,
Redlands, CA, receiving his B.A. in 1971. He is a past Vice
President of the San Francisco Chapter of the Federal Bar
Association and has been a featured speaker on affordable
housing issues at many industry conferences.

Christina
Howard works as a legal assistant with the attorneys and
clients of the firm to complete loan closings and real estate
transactions with owners and lenders. She coordinates the flow
of documents and facilitates communication between parties
involved in transactions and tracks issues related to the
transaction to ensure timely and thorough transactional
closings.
Mrs. Howard received her BA degree from the University of
California, Santa Barbara.

Patricia
Sayerwin works with the attorneys and clients of the firm to
complete loan closings and real estate transactions with owners
and lenders. Mrs. Sayerwin has been with the firm since
September 1971. She was educated in England and graduated from
Scarborough Technical College, Scarborough, Yorkshire, England.
Prior to her employment with Levy, Levy & Levy, she was employed
as a Secretary in England, Utah, Canada and California.

Marie
Geraldi joined the law firm of Levy, Levy & Levy
in 1997. Mrs. Geraldi was previously employed by the Small
Business Administration, Bureau of Customs and Meridian
Commercial, Inc. In addition, Mrs. Geraldi has owned her own
company. Mrs. Geraldi has a total of 19 years secretarial
experience.
